Greetings all. I am looking for some help.. I have been searching for a pellet stove to heat my barns tack room.. I have been looking used as I can't afford a new stove at this time and wanted to get use to and learn before putting large dollars into one. Have a opportunity to buy a USSC 5510 pellet stove built in late 08. I know from other threads it was a pretty good stove and once adjusted produced good heat. He's asking 400 for it. My concerns are it has been stored for 3 yrs hopper 3/4 full of high quality pellets. The front door glass is split in two but no air gap from crack. It is over due for a total cleaning. It does run minus igniter which seems to be a common failure piece. No error codes
My concern is does crack glass integrity weaker and is it worth 400 or am i lilely to just end up investing as much to fix and clean this up as buying a newer veraion

i know its not a bad price, but where was it stored how much rust, are the motors froze up? Wire connections corroded? Control board corroded? The ceramic glass is around $200(really should have it).
So 400 + 200 and who knows what else it really needs. a new one is $1000.

With cracked glass and igniter gone south he wants two much money
Around here I would expect to pay no more than 150$ . even then I would hesitate
Last week I bought a Envrio ef5 everthing works and with 20 bags of pellets and piping for 350$
I would keep looking there are deals out there

Was stored in dry conditions... some rust but thing a wire brush wouldn't get rid of. From what I could see all the components are functioning and no real corrosion on wiring... lots of dust though. Exhaust and blower both worked as well as auger feed motor turning freely with no noise but can't tell if it's truly feeding properly as could be turning the old pellets into dust instead of feeding to pot but couldn't dig down through to auger itself at time.

I'm in North eastern pa and Havent been that lucky, around here most are going for 500 and up. All of which are in similar shape. Next closest deal to this I found was a Englander that they wanted 700 for and it was removed due to some issue with exhaust fan and control board issues.

I hear ya! They go for stupid money here to. I have an englander i picked up just before Christmas for 400. Ive got it almost ready for paint. All new motors & control board. Bead blasted everything. Im hoping to get 800. But gonna take a while. If you can get the guy to sell for 200 id buy it!

If everything works, offer him 250 dollars! Tell him by the time I buy the glass & igniter I'll have more in it! Doesn't hurt to try..

Not likely i know him well and he will hold out so i have moved my search forward. Dozen ads later and i am hopefully going tomorrow to look at a supposedly 25 pah Englander not to far away that appears from pictures to be in good to very good condition hopefully the pictures don't lie. And that i have learned enough in researching to minimally get it to do the start up checks. He admitted that ignitor doesn't work on the Englander but i know this again to be not shocking. And this time no cracked glass....yah
