To what length have you stored wood in the house before a winter

And I mean not basement or designated area, but moving furniture, using old boxes, stashing in closets, notably before a storm or cold snap, where "I don't want to hoof wood on a sled to the house"

I live in Prince Edward Island, and some days, while not cold, can be hell with snowfall

I am unable to post pics as I don't have them on the ipad but we built a wood box that is 4 feet wide by 4 feet high. It is about 20 inches wide. In all but the coldest weather the box holds 4-6 days worth of wood. As well we always keep an emergency stash of ash under our deck right next to Our basement "loading" window.
We always want to be prepared for a worst case scenario snowstorm or ice storm.

The most we bring into the house is so that we have enough to fill the stove in the morning. Most times we don't even do that though. The wood is stored outdoors where it belongs, but we also have a porch right near the stove so open door, grab wood and put in stove.

It seems if we bring wood in to leave it we get those little brown millers flying around and we prefer they stay outdoors.

I should clarify. Wood box is 4 feet wide, 4 feet high by 20 inches in depth. For whatever reason we have never had bug trouble with bringing wood in.

I live alone, so I can pretty well squirrel away a months worth (insert embarrassed look). I tend to follow the rule set by my Podcast Dude "Jack Spirko" in that "You are never standing still, you are either moving forward or falling behind". Ergo wood storage

Never squirreled away the wood . . . woodshed isn't that far away . . . about 2 weeks worth of wood is stored on my covered back porch though . . . and a day or so of wood in the woodbox every day.

I keep about a days worth of splits inside . I do,however keep about a cord between the front and back porch . If that gets low, there's 6 cords in the shed .

I'm about to go to some lengths...have about 1/3 cord on the front porch, started stacking in the basement...there's a recess to the right of my fireplace that I just know was made to store firewood but that woman won't let me put any there...

Two plus cords in attached garage about 60feet away that I'm keeping fully stocked from covered stacks outside as long as the snow stays away.

I could keep it out of the house since the shed's a few feet from the door.
However, the stove likes to be fed more often than I like to go outside, so I keep a days worth near the stove.
I'll soon be loading the front porch with 1/3 cord or so that I can grab more easily.

I keep 3-4 days in the house in a rack, usually have another 3-4 days in the garage. Next year once I make some racks and clean up the garage Ill put a couple weeks worth in there at a time if not a bit more.

I usually keep about two days or so worth of wood in the basement. I like putting warm wood into the boiler. It is usually about 75in the basement. When a really cold time or big storm is coming I will stash some more. We had pretty cold weather coming the other night and the snow storm coming. So I had the three little ones haul wood from under the porch to me at the basement window. They are great little workers. It was the day before Christmas so I told them if they brought me a lot of wood there would be a couple of extra candy bars in their stocking! You should of seen the wood coming then. With what I had down there already and what they brought me we had about 1/3 of a cord down there for the cold and storm. Worked out great, I had a lot to do yesterday with the snow between my house, and parents. I am still burning it now. Nice to not have to haul wood when you have so much other stuff going on.

I do like aussiedog and others who keep a couple pickup loads in an attached garage. Get it from covered stacks to replenish after the weather has been dry for a few days. Not everyone has a two car attached garage that they only keep one vehicle in though.

I generally make a stack (a cord or so) off of the back porch to last me in until the real cold weather. Once the cold weather hits, I bring around two weeks worth into the basement and restock as needed. I don't like bringing the wood into the house until the bugs (spiders, etc.) are pretty much dormant........

This is what I use 42 in. length,46 tall 10 in wide holds about .30 of a cord stacked 5 feet tall good to go for awhile.

You better load up, after this storm sat night its going to be the coldest weather in a couple years, probably below zero where you are. I just got done loading over a weeks worth in the basement and brought in a lot of black locust for those cold nights, this is what Ive been saving it for.

I guess I'm the only one who puts a full winter's worth inside? It's sprayed every other layer, never had any problem with bugs since. I love not having to deal with any snow, and keeping all that wood in 75 degrees and 30% humidity all winter. I don't bring any punky stuff in though, that all stays outside and is brought in during shoulder searon, one burn at a time, never hits the floor.

Actually have a three car garage, but yes I have 2 cars and suburban in there along with the 2+ cords of well seasoned firewood, and alot of other crap.
Sorry, but I hate having vehicles sitting outside, hate having anything sitting outside for that matter, other than firewood. Just saying.

1/2 cord fits in my sunroom which is right around the corner from the stove. I have an appliance cart that I have learned to stack lots of wood on. I load up from the wood stacks that are about 25 yards from the house. Open the sliding glass door (doorwall if you are from MI) and start hand bombing it in. Then I get all wood geeky and stack it in different split sizes. Sweep the tile floor and admire my new pile. That sun room also serves as a walk in beer fridge. The wood stays dry, I can walk in my slippers to grab wood and get it going in the morning. Resist the urge to grab a beer on my way by, then boil my coffee water on the stove.

No special hiding spots or any fancy techniques, but the area beside my stove will hold about 2 weeks worth of wood in milder weather and about a week worth in the coldest time of winter.

Never had any bug issues in the three winters we've had this house.

Dad puts all his wood in his basement for the whole year. Its fairly small cellar just under the main part of the house so its packed fully with just enough space to get access around the furnace and pump and water heater, everything else is wood.
