Trip to Woodstock Soapstone

My wife and I headed up to New Hampshire today for a combined 6th anniversary getaway, and Fireview pickup. We were undecided on color until Saturday when my wife decided we wanted the custom color of Moss Green. We talked to Jamie on the phone for a while. He told us they could build a Moss Green Fireveiw for us for Wednesday pickup. Today we drove up and had the factory tour. They had just painted the cast parts today, and we picked out the stones this afternoon. The stove will be ready to go home with us on Wednesday afternoon.

The folks up there are great.
I'll post more pictures of the trip and the factory soon. Right now I have to get back to our anniversary getaway.

Vacation is over. Vermont is beautiful.
The stove was ready as promised on Wednesday afternoon. It is beautiful, and even more special because we were able to chose the stones and see the process.
Here are some more parts pictures.

Completed. Ready to be packed and loaded on my truck.

Now for the fun part. Get a 500 lb stove off the truck and in the house. I built some ramps. I used 5 part block and fall to control the decent as i guided it down the ramp.

Then I rolled it into the house on a fridge dolly.

The dog is ready for winter.

I had a friend come over and the two of us lifted it off the pallet and onto to hearth pad. More pictures coming.

We only spent about two hours at the factory on the first and last days of the trip. The bulk of our time was spent at a very nice bed & breakfast inn about 15 minutes from the factory in Queeche, Vt. There was fine food and drink, walks along the lake, sightseeing, and a little shopping too. My wife was just as excited about getting the stove as I was. Getting one of these is like getting a piece of semi custom furniture for the house. If you haven't seen one in real life, you just can't tell how good looking they are. Most of our furniture is family hand me downs so getting the Fireview was a pretty big deal for both of us.

Awesome looking stove. I really like the color and the nice marbling of the stone. I should of looked closer at the colors before choosing my plain old black one.

Did they mention anything about the Fireview upgrade while you were there?

(Prior to our three kids, the Mrs's and I did a lot of camping in Plymouth, VT...we would bike ride into Woodstock....have lunch with the hoidie toidies...then bike down along the Queeche river and back to our campsite in Plymouth)

Its funny....my next door neighbors opened up a B & B in Barnard, VT.....I would just sh*t if you stayed at their place. (Its about 15 minutes from Queeche...a cunuck lady named "ginette"

Congrats on the beautiful stove......I know the hand me downs thing....my wife and I bought our first bedroom set 9 years after we got married

I guess I confused you. The factory is in Lebanon, NH. Queeche is about 15-20 minutes from there. Yes, we saw the gorge. We stayed at the Queeche Inn which is about 1/2 mile up the river from the gorge.

Pictures just can't show how great these stoves look. The depth and color of the stone is awesome. The more I look at it, the more it realy does look like a fine liece of furniture.
