I have a Majectic BR42 wood burning fireplace with an installed UL127 SK series Chimney. I would like to remove the fireplace and install a Napolean Wood Burning Stove 1100PL that requires a UL103 Chimney. Is my current chimney compatible or should I tear out the original and replace? The current chimney was installed in year 2000. Any advice is much appreciated.

Trying not to burn down the cabin in the UP.

No matter what, if the installed unit is a "stove" (and not an approve ZC fireplace insert), you cannot use the chimney. Certain small fireplace inserts can install into your fireplace (if listed and approved for that) and the chimney can be brought up to spec by relining inside the existing inner liner.

But to be simple, if you are talking about a free standers....no, you have to replace it with HT103 approved metal chimney or a code-built masonry one.
