Used pi for the first time in 20 years....

I'm about 4³ feet short of 2 cords. Still need to toss a bunch on top for the slanted "roof" though.

I split it all by hand over the course of 2 weekends, just in time to avoid 80+ "heatwave" here too.

Might start splitting more if it cools off next week. Otherwise i'll be enjoying the rest of my summer.

I forget now, i had to google the volume of a cylinder formula and google popped it right up. Which was somewhat irritating, realizing how easy kids have it these days. Google just pops up the formula, and all you need to do is input height and diameter.

Thanks. I do a combo of large and small. We have a BK stove now and last year I found out it's easier to have a range of sizes so you can fill the box as much as possible. I have another stack in the shed of all of the smaller stuff. I usually lay down two big splits and then pile the smaller stuff on top. This is almost all pine, which seems to burn slower in bigger chunks anyway.

As far as I know, everything burns slower in bigger chunks (but of course it's more important with a fast-burning wood like pine).

Those splits look like the size I split my lodgepole pine but I also have some that would be bigger than that. Poochie looks proud of dads work!

Can you share the dimensions? Height and diameter?

I'm guessing 5' high and 8' diameter as the numbers are close and the proportions look right.

cylinder volume = pi x 4 squared x 5 = 4 squared x (3.14 x 5) = 16 x (15.7)
2 cords = 4 x 4 x 8 x 2 = 16 x 16

difference = 16 x .3 = 4.8 cubic feet

If it ain't right it oughta be. Darn kids with their modern googles, why in my day that there google was a number.

I know, so much for formulas when you can just go to google and plug two numbers in and be done with it. Pi? What's that?

Oh and exactly right it's 5' by 8'. I was thinking about going 6' tall but then as i was building it realized it would be a pain to get the top wood back off when i need it.
