used stove. blows dog smell... help

I got this stove used and when the blower turns on it smells like dog. Bad. It smells bad. What could I do to maybe help with the smell.

Febreze actually chemically eliminates odors, it doesn't just mask them with a pretty scent. Maybe try removing the room blower and spray some into convection air path.

Something has to be causing the odors: dead mice, mice nest, cat or dog pee, mold, burned motor, etc.. I would dig deeper. And for me I'd avoid using a Chemical Air Freshener such as Febreze.

The last owner had dogs. Lots of dogs. That's why it smells. Now it's in my house with no dogs.

Check the convection blower for matted hair sticking to the cage.

Remove and clean the convection blower motor and assembly. Use your compressor if you have one. Clean the squirrel cage with a quality cleaner. Lastly, thoroughly vacuum the convection duct work. Use pipe cleaners if need be. Also, clean the stove's back side. That is the area the convection blower draws it's air from.

Oh man that's just too nasty. Warn wet dog smell from your stove. Too nasty. I would just disconnect everything, take it outside, pour gasoline all over it and light it. That's it. I wouldn't have that thing in my house.

Put into your signature what stove your trying to salvage. Some stoves have a fiberglass heat barrier and will need to have a complete tare down and scrub to try an abate the odor

After cleaning and removing any dead mice and pet hair I would spray with Lysol IC spray. Wet all the convection passages and let dry. Then do it again. You should ventilate the room and not use the room until clear of the fumes. That should take care of any bio funk living in the stove. This works on car air conditioning vents too if you spray it in the intake near the wipers. Use caution and follow the directions. This is a powerful disinfectant used in hospitals and schools for hard surface decontamination.

You get Indeck pellets out there too? They smell like swamp gas, haven't had the pleasure of trying to smell em burning.

I bought some blended pellets and they smell very pleasant burning. Good right out of the bag too and that's good as the Elena has a open hopper.

Had to laugh at a guy that was picking up pellets at the store when he was complaining about his Englander needing another auger motor as was its second in 14 years and he paid a whole $700 for it new as a closeout from Lowes. Would be the third item to be replaced
