Disclaimer: I haven't been scientific about this, because my moisture meter got left out in the rain about a month ago and it no longer works. But anyway, last year when I was re-stacking wood, I decided to line the bottom row of my pallets with a layer of osage and mulberry, based on the theory that they might act as a moisture barrier. Osage and mulberry (and cedar) are rot resistant, meaning they can sit on the ground without rotting for quite awhile.

Now that I'm at the bottom of my stacks, I've noticed that my splits hardly spit any moisture at all, compared to last year's splits.

Just curious--has anyone else tried this?
