Question:

I am very interested in ventless efficient heating. We have just built a house and am in the process of remodeling the basement. We would like a ventless heater for there. I have been in some places that have had propane ventless log heating. There has been a faint smell of propane. Could this be remedied by a air filter??

Answer:

I might caution against ventless LP for a new home..in the basement. You have a few strikes against you, like a tight house, a basement, and LP...al of which can cause problems with vent-free. Is there any way you can use a direct-vent stove...and pipe it directly outside (up the wall and out).

There are new catalytic vent free heaters that might eliminate some problems.
