Vermont Castings Intrepid II - Smokes During Cat. Mode

Hi,

I am new here and just getting into wood heat. My VC Intrepid II releases smoke when I shut the damper.

Any info on possible causes?

you dont have enough draw to run a cat...
the stack aint hot enough....
the stove aint hot enough...
the cat is clogged with ash or gunk...

could be a lot of things.
