Saw this very large woodstove up in Maine today, not at a stove store coincidentally. Tough to get scale on it but I estimated that it was 3x larger than my stoves that are 2cu/ft.
I have to wonder how that thing doesn’t overfire if it was full of wood.

It depends on how large an area is being heated and the heat loss of that area. It doesn't need a full load of fuel. A lot of people run them on 3-4 thick splits and just add a couple more when needing a refresh. Wonder how much smoke spillage there is on reloads with that flue arrangement?
