Went to go get a bag of pellets from the garage and this is what I see....

He looks big. I have no experience with bears. Deer, possums, skunks and fox visit occasionally. A visit from a bear... not so sure I would like that.

Bears like fires are not soft and cuddly, do not attempt to hug the bear.

They are up and about and very hungry this time of the year.

Bears are scaredy cats though. I mean, of course, don't try to go up to it, but if you were to yell out your window it would disappear.

we have more bears than we should in my area, given human population. (within 20 radial miles, probably 2+ million people). I see them ALL the time... once a month or so.

We had them in Minnesota. I was stationed at a mountain top radar site. There was family housing there. One day, an Asian dependent wife came screaming out of her home. She had been baking cookies and had left the door open. She was interrupted by an uninvited black bear. They aren't a bit shy if there is food that they even think they might be able to get to. If they have cubs with them, you want to be sure you stay away and keep all you windows and doors locked. One time a bear came into our camp site. Trying to scare him off didn't work until a buddy of ours tossed a string of fire crackers at the bear's feet. The bear headed off after that!

We get our share of them here, too. Caught them twice attacking our feeder, just yelled at them (from a safe distance!) and they scrammed.

In the second pic, I'll bet you could do some photo-shopping to blur his head and post it on the Big Foot forum boards and get them all hot and bothered. Amazing the way he can stand completely vertical on his hind legs like that.

I agree - screw the birds - keep your powder dry for defense of the pellet stash! Sure wish I could sleep all winter...

Didn't pet it.....I figured he/she wouldn't appreciate me interrupting the snack.

I wish the second picture didn't have the screen in it. But, because of the view, I had to raise the cell phone to the top portion of the window.

When I left for work - he looked at me for a bit and then took off. Don't think it will be the last visit. Probably going to bring the feeder in.

Now only if he could take care of the neighbor's dog that constantly barks.

Only thing I ever see are coyotes around me. Although my neighbor has seen a moose withing 10 ft of his window and a bear in his front yard.
