+2 on box elder!
 
That's the biggest Boxelder I've seen. It's still decent firewood, especially when it's free.
 
Boxelder, for sure.

Splits easy if it's straight, hard if it's gnarly.

Dries pretty fast.

Rots pretty fast if it's not kept dry.

Smells bad when it burns.

Burns fast, best for spring or fall.

I burned a whole bunch of it the past couple years. I cleared it all out of my wood lot.
