Question:

what does a stove catalytic converter look like and what does it do? look like?

Answer:

I did a quick search on Google and came up with this site: www.scprototech.com/WoodStove/whyshouldiuse.htm

Check it out to learn the basics of catalytic combustors. If you are asking what the visual effect of the catalytic flame is you can imagine a super heated furnace in miniature. The combustor itself is similar to a honey-comb in look.
