Yesterday mornings oak and maple load lasted nicely through the night and is kicking off this mornings load of spruce. ☕️
Negative. The liner is done. I do not feel safe using it. The previous HO did a half-assed install. The horizontal piece of the T in the bottom of the chimney was only butted up to the vertical piece. I don't think the liner was ever secured correctly to the vertical section of T either. End of last season I noticed the liner stuck out the chimney top 2-3'' more than it used to.Have you stoked the dragon yet this season?

I went to lean out the liner and T after my last post and noticed the loose horizontal piece. After 5yrs of my yearly cleanings I never noticed it was disconnected. It was even loose, let lone misaligned. It's loose now.
There are no funds for a new liner. Works been slow. Heating select rooms with LP space heaters.
Interestingly enough, I'm on a land contract with the previous owners holding the note. They also have a mortgage. Notarized signatures on a poorly written contract, not in their favor. They have recently summoned me to court with their attorney, trying to steal the house back. I am finding out through conversations, with a couple local neighbors, he is a fugitive of the county. Residing in another state with his attorney representing, this won't go very well. I am entitled to face my accusers in the court of law. Not to mentioned he has no legal bearing of contract breech.
Back to the regular scheduled program....there is nothing in the dragon's belly save the ashes of last season's meal.
Yikes, that’s terrible news on multiple fronts.I’m sorry to hear about your troubles, it’s the time of year for the furnace and the fact it’s become a risk to run really sucks. The whole housing insecurity end of it is worse. Stay strong my friend, you will come out better in the end. The PO’s sound like real POS’s…May karma find them 2x over. 😩Negative. The liner is done. Does not get any better looking than load #2, 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Behind on my posts been busy…
Yesterday before works and today’s when I got home. Mostly oak cherry and hickory in these mixes with one huge maple chunk today
Yes that sure did stack up very well!Does not get any better looking than load #2, 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you.WhoaYikes, that’s terrible news on multiple fronts.
Best of luck dealing with this, bon courage
Thank you, and yes they are serious POS's. Their mistake is, they bit the wrong dog. I found a pit bull of a lawyer today. After I shake off the nipping, I'm going after them full force. 1st up is coming up with retainer fee. It's a big hill.....but I'll get there.I’m sorry to hear about your troubles, it’s the time of year for the furnace and the fact it’s become a risk to run really sucks. Man. Your luck has to turn around at some point soon, I don’t see a point much lower for you! Chin up, karma will absolutely come around, the pendulum is going to start to comeback up I’m sure of it 🍀Negative. The liner is done. I do not feel safe using it. Funny how that works! I used have my heat on 64-65 before the stove, now if it’s under 70, I’m chilly. Cold like that will suck the heat right out regardless if it’s warm inside or not!7 degrees with a real feel of -6. Firing up the coals for the overnight load of cherry, black ash, and 1 each of beech, ironwood and white ash. Supposed to be -6 with a real feel of -13 at 7 tomorrow morning... The psychological effect of the cold is already kicking in. It's 70 here in the Great Room and I'm cold.
I recall last year we had a long shoulder season. Everyone here was complaining of doing daily relights in their stoves, while looking forward to colder temps to keep the stove burning 24/7.5 splits of Red Oak for the overnight. This will be the first below zero night since last Winter. Already at -3 and they are calling for -11 but I think we’ll beat that. These colder days the Fireview has been doing full loads in the morning and evening and a small load in the middle of the afternoon just to keep the cabin temp steady.
Am I reading that right? -20F ?Brrr! Fresh load of Oak on top of coals this morning. Looks like Winter is here.
I stopped overnight burns last year because my pathetic Panadero and poor chimney run/ materials have me re-loading every 2.5hrs. My missus suggested to stop the continuous feeding.I recall last year we had a long shoulder season. God Bless you! It get harder the older you get for sure. Just remember this is the 35th anniversary of your 20th birthday and don't overdue it!I’m burning everyday on my porch. Obviously not insulated well, so I burn oak with enough air to keep the temperature gauge just about on the line between hot and too hot. It heats the room so we can watch tv but eats up a lot of logs for a a 5 hour window or so. We love it though. I just scored a neighbor with a big 3 foot red oak I can process that was standing dead. Probably a 2 year dry at the worst. I’m 55 years old and still running marathons and swinging the maul. I hope to do this another 20 years or so.
😂Amen to that! My thoughts exactly!Going to try to heat soak the house today with the bitter cold coming in tonight and tomorrow.
Which drolet is that? I have the escape 1800 and I'm trying to get my n/s loads to last longer. I packed it tight and it's already down to embers 4.5 hours later. When I load e/w I can get the burn to be nice and gentle.Last night and this mornings.
Alot of hickory and oak in the mix last night, had excellent coals from The hickory probably would have made it 15+ hours and could have lit on its own without help but only needed 12 hours. House was still 66 in main rooms and about 65-66 in bedrooms
This morning is heavy on the oak with a little maple and cherry with a few cut offs to fill gaps. Going to try to heat soak the house today with the bitter cold coming in tonight and tomorrow.
