-20/75 Another cold one this morning. Got up early and filled the stove full of Oak. Nice toasty 75 in here now. Going through a lot of firewood with the cold snap!

How many splits can you fit in the Fireview? 18.5 low here with a breeze. I think for the first time the downstairs heat came on before the set up at 5am. ...my bad for not having temps up at bedtime. I do not burn overnite anymore. 6 am Startup load of 5 year css red and white oak underwhelmed this morning? I expected a hell of a draft at 18 deg..sometimes I just don't understand

4-6 splits depending on the size. That’s about 25-30 lbs with Oak. I’m figuring I load about one less split of firewood per load compared to the F45 but pretty much putting out the same amount of heat. So there will be a little wood saving with this stove. Just about burned one cord so far.

12/68 took the opportunity to shovel out some ash and clean the glass for first time in a month. Was starting to get that white haze on it but never got the chance to clean it with the cold weather. One thing I don’t like about the Fireview is the difficulty of wiping off the glass but it does stay clean for a long time.

After this mornings slaving to the dragon, I went back down in the lair about 4am. All was down to coals, alas a bigger bed and chunks. I repacked with bigger splits playing tetris. All premium foods minus 2 big splits of black ash. Fell back asleep and up just after 7 for a refeed. More coal chunks and a huge bed of coals. Tossed in some black birch, and couple oak splits. I'm loosing sleep slaving to this ole girl.

Can't wait for spring. Are we there yet?

After this mornings slaving to the dragon, I went back down in the lair about 4am. All was down to coals, alas a bigger bed and chunks. I repacked with bigger splits playing tetris. All premium foods minus 2 big splits of black ash. Fell back asleep and up just after 7 for a refeed. More coal chunks and a huge bed of coals. Tossed in some black birch, and couple oak splits. I'm loosing sleep slaving to this ole girl.

Can't wait for spring. Are we there yet?

I just checked my calendar, nope 😬 couple 2/3 more months there friend. I don’t know if I could do it, those short burn times would burn me out. I give you credit man! Hang in there 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Not to rub it it, got out of work this am and had some coals in the stove from 6am yesterday load of hardwoods, cat meter still in the active zone. Propane furnace was cycling through the night but at least wasn’t running constantly as if the stove wasn’t contributing. Load of spruce for a nice quick heat blast. We had 10 overnight with a breeze and a high of 25 and some sun for the earlier part of the day today anyways.

It was 3 degrees this morning, the basement was 70 with the temps up here 65 & 66 this morning. The first fire had ash with some yellow birch in it.

Ran out and stuffed the shop while I was warming the truck up and cleaning up some snow earlier:

It was 11, shop was 62 left the stove at about 1/4 air; expecting to come home to a cold stove…. Hopefully a warm shop though.

Stuffed it with ash, maple and some of that black cherry again.

After I got home from work had to take my youngest to the dentist, then got home, cleaned out some ash, and cleaned the glass. Stuffed to the gills this morning with oak, ash, and cherry. Windchill was -10 with a temp of about 9 this morning. Now…breakfast and more coffee

Nah, no time. Attorney called. When my GF gets back from her doc's appointment we need to go give some signatures. The legal battle is progressing. Then I get to repeat last night before leaving for work in the am.

All good news.....attorney, then I get to get to work. The GF is also going back to work after her cancer battle. I feel some relief ahead.

This morning at 9 i had added some oak uglies, 11 hrs after last night's load. It was cold in the am!

Those uglies are done now. Some red oak and some black locust.
25 outside, going down to 23. Upstairs 69.

Red oak loaded for the night. Stove is cruising at 680F, stove room is 80F and rising. Outside temp is 16F.

Going down to the low 20s for me tonight. Post Oak and American Holly in the stove for overnight. Its 72 in the stove room at 10pm and will be about 66-68 when I reload in the morning.

Cold morning at 12F, red oak reloaded on a large coal bed from last night’s burn. Supposed to start warming up some through the rest of the week. It’s been a challenge to keep the electric furnace from kicking on the last few days in the early morning hours.

Holy crap we are almost as cold as Nw Wisconsin this morning....21.2 outside, a cool 69.6 inside , Had a small amount of coals this morning, not enuff for a reload. So normal 5am cold start of 2 red 2 white oak splits + oak kindling. Reload will have some precious hickory. We also will have a warm up after supposedly the coldest early December in 20 years. Of course MD " cold" ain't mid west/NE cold. Yeah I know. Our latitude, the Chesapeake and the Atlantic modify our temps. You all deserve a thaw.

Warmup today, getting above freezing! Must have done a sub standard job of charring the overnight load last night or set the air a little too low because I woke up to pretty smoked glass. Burning that off with my normal pine, aspen and black ash load. One of the next few days should allow me to get the temperature up inside and cool the fireplace off enough to get a bunch of ash out and clean the glass again...

Son was up Saturday night to Monday morning, but it was so cold we couldn't do anything other than watch football. New UTV wouldn't turn over so I couldn't really show it to him. Winch worked fine, so possibly the oil was too thick to crank... We'll try it later after things warm up later. Might need to set a heater by it if we get cold with snow... Will check the battery too if it doesn't go later, but it's a new machine. I suppose being a 2 year old brand new machine the battery could be weak, but I had no issues when it was in the teens.

Is anyone else getting tired of all the random slivers you find in your fingers and hands during burning season...?

Last nights load went well, house was 70 when I woke up. I did have the fan on 1/3. Had a couple errands to run now I just finished charring a load of spruce for today. sunny and 30 at this time. ☕️

Never got to post this this morning . Was still about 70 in the main rooms but cool in our bedrooms this morning. My wife bumped the heat up around 430-5 this morning in our room. LOTS of big BTUs in lasts night load. Held 775 STT for well over an hour with the blower on max.

This morning was oak, cherry and some hickory.
