More like basswood to me. Heavy when wet, light as a feather dry?

Whack a round open and sniff, if it smells like Pinesol it's Sassafras, if not I think maybe Cottonwood or some other low end hardwood.

Not locust ,wouldn't grow fungus on itself in 50 years.The wood is low end for sure.

Pic is too low res to make a determination. Color looks like our local hickory, and photo is way too grainy to see the bark, but that doesn’t look like our hickory bark.

I cut more oak than probably anyone on this forum, and I’m in PA, but that’s not the color of any local oak I’ve ever seen. How long has it been cut?

Looks like Chesnut Oak to me as well. Could be Sassafras too.
