~Hi
I hope to buy a wood burning stove to heat a holiday home. The main room is about 60 cubic meters/2,000 cubic feet. The ceiling is simply floorboards and there is an open staircase to the bedroom above. The walls are two feet thick and made of stone and I intend to put the stove in the opening of the existing fireplace with a lined flue and a metal plate to prevent loss of hot air up tthe chimney. I'm told that a lot of the web based guidance regarding appropriate heat output for this size of room needs to be adjusted to take account of stove location and the open staircase but I'm not sure what allowance to make and would appreciate any guidance.
