WHAT pellets ARE YOU GUYS USING

what are you guys using?
i tried okie gold,platnium,hamers,turman,stove chow,cubex,country boy,greene supreme,timber heat,energex,allegheny and a few others.
okie platniums are great,low ash high heat but at $329 a ton not sure there worth it
barefoots come in second with lower ash but a little less heat $289 ton

Barefoots get my vote! I found that not only do you get great heat, you get a nice long burn time per bag as the pellets are on the longer side. (at least the ones I had were)

Greenways at the moment. Lignetics bieng my number 1 choice.

Hooked on Hamers, with Greenways being second favorite. Lignetics, LaCrete, Energex all good. I wont spend money on NEWP, GS, or Golden Inferno unless thats all thats around. They ash up window way faster than others, and leave klinkers. I need to burn on low settings or we open windows, so cheaper pellets dont shine for me in this situation.

After everything I burned this season, I really like the Lignetics. Low ash, clean burning and HOT. I think one of the 4 tons I burn next season will be the Okanagan DF. I'd like to try them.

Never had good luck with these. Ashy, klinkery. They never threw off heat as they should, and always had a very off putting odor when opening the bags. Definitely not the piney goodness of Vermonts

I have to say, I burned NEWP's exclusively with my previous Breckwell stove. They burned good, plus I didn't know any better! I still have a ton left over from last year. When I started burning in '97, I tried a few different brands and liked these. Now, there are so many better ones out there. I like the vermonts too, but got the okie platinum for this year. The price was right!

I am trying the Okie Platinums (or Super Spruce as they are now labeled) and Turmans this year as well. Have always been tempted with both brands but figures since I still have Vermonts left over from last year, I may as well experiment. Heard good things about both so I am hopeful.

I am going with corn this year i'm sure. Almost always cheaper than pellets.

I have a gravity feed stove (Wiseway). This is the second year I'll be using it. Last year I went through two ton of Okie Platinums and a ton of Okie Doug Fir. The performance of both was great. Tremendous heat and almost no ash. This year, when I restocked back in April I experimented with the Okie Gold. I now have a ton of Gold, two ton of Platinum and two ton of Doug Fir for the winter. I burned my first fire last night and used the Gold. I was very pleased with the heat and low ash. For my stove, after a little experimenting last year with high quality hardwood pellets, I see no reason why I should look elsewhere for pellets. The Okie, or Northern Warmth as they're now called, allow my stove to perform exactly as the designer intended.

burnin an assortment of cheap stuff I got last year on sale, Awf hardwoods,Awf softwoods, Natures Own, Green Supreme, Greenways, Kingdoms, Big Heat and what ever else I have buried in the pile.

Starting the season with 2.4 ton of lacrete. I got a great deal 280 per ton it averaged out to. Great pellet for the price and I have used them before. I also have the last ton of blazers from last year for the really cold stretches. It's worth mentioning the guy that I bought pellets from this year is awesome. Kas Wood pellets out of Fitchburg ma. All pallets were tripple wrapped and everything is stored in a wharehouse, never outside. He delivers within a 40 mile radius for 70 bucks which is cheap. I like supporting family owned and operated buissnes. He also carries north country, eagle valley, and a few other brands. Message me if you need contact info. I went with Pellets r us last year out of acton ma and had no issue. however this year they only wanted to carry newp which are horrible in my opinion. they just posted on thier website lacrete for 369 per ton, not per 1.2 ton skid, which is ridiculous.

TSC Blue and White bag. Both 100% Hardwood and the Hard/Soft mix. Both burn well and are cheap.

With my stove, I have noticed the Hard/Soft mix give me more heat due to MUCH shorter pellet length, thus feeding a bit more into pot.

The Hardwoods have pellets up to 3.5" in length. Seems like the pellets were being extruded faster than they should have and caused them to be long. When I bring a bag in, I just have my 3 year old stomp and jump on the bag. He's happy and I get shorter pellets.

iGepir still doesn't have any info for the Hard/Soft mix, so I don't know who is making them this year, but they are good.
