Looks like the same stuff i picked up..scarlet oak..a type of red oak. The heartwood looks black..

By the time I saw it it was smashed on ground and 6840 lines wrapped around it with a broken pole too

That could be a pin oak. Most definitely not a white oak.

I split a good pile of pint oak recently. If it smells like dog poop when freshly split, that confirms it!

The pin oak I've had didn't have that dark heartwood. I'm guessing some kind of red oak
