whats more accurate epa btu or cord wood btu ?

Guess it all depends on the wood used. If you were to burn Hickory, Oak, Ash etc. I would think the EPA ratings would look pretty low. I think the EPA ratings are based on marginal type wood fuels.

EPA ratings are based on burning a perfect rack of Doug Fir, Cordwood tests are done with denser woods like Oak.
