Whats your favorite smelling wood to burn?

I generally am happiest when I don't smell anything, that is when it is burning the most efficiently .

That being said, the smell of white cedar is my favorite!
I use cedar for kindling, so that is the good smell I get outside when firing on a cold morning!
 
Much like the what do you burn question, it's mostly about what you have available. Lot's of pine around here to burn and it smells great.

I do love grabbing all of the dead spruce branches and hauling them to the firepit. I call 'em "cracklers." I have one separate crackler pile for Mrs. Catfish Hunter so that she can have all of the fun of tossing those into the fire pit.

I love the smell of standing dead red elm, apple and cherry but I don't know that I notice the smell of any of them burning much. The ones that seem to make a smell when burning are box elder which I don't especially like and buckthorn which I do like for its odd medicinal smell.
