which fireplace is this?

Hello,
New home owner here, with the attached fireplace. No documentation available. We think this is a quadrafire 7100, but not sure, since there are only 2 levers below... the ACC override control lever (per the (broken link removed to http://hearthnhome.com/downloads/installManuals/433_3600.pdf)found online) is missing in our fireplace.

1. Do we have the right fireplace?
2. We are not able to get the fire going, pl see the following and help us.

• the knob to the far right, the outside air control handle is missing, but we did open it to the far right using a vise grip.
• The auxiliary convection air level control just won't move and is stuck to the left
• The ACC we are able to move

Looks damn near a dead ringer for the 7100 with Mission Hill front.
First thing to do is replace the missing parts, and inspect the inside of the firebox, and chimney.
According to the manual, the outside air control knob should be turned clockwise to open, and should always be open, unless the fireplace is not in use.
The auxiliary control lever has a lock on it, that is only removed if auxiliary duct has been installed. Is there duct installed? If not, they may have left the lock on, hence you won't need to, or be able to move that lever.
The manual is also showing 2 ACC knobs, one on the left for automatic control, and one to the right of that(both central lower under the door handles) which is an override for the ACC.
It looks like you only have 1 ACC knob, so not sure if 1 is missing, or maybe yours is n earlier model that didn't have the second knob?

Make sure the flue is clean, and nothing is blocking it. Make sure you have the air controls turned properly.
Def inspect and clean the flue prior to burning.

Be careful using vise-grips. They tend to tear the crap out of anything you clamp in them. If that is a threaded rod or similar, when you go to replace the knob, the threads will be fubared and you may have to replace that also.

Thanks for the info. We did get the inspection/cleaning done. The lock info you provided is very useful. We will give this another attempt.

Read the manual over real well, especially regarding the air controls. Make sure you are using truly dry wood, as is will burn like crap with wet wood.
If in doubt, put a few 2x4 wood scraps in and see how that burns. NON pressure treated of course.
