so i just picked up a pair of red wing boots the other day...it's my first pair ever and they really are everything that people say that are. comfy comfy comfy...and just a really well made pair of boots. for anyone that's ever thought about spending the cash...it's worth every penny in my opinion. i have the 4420 9" logger and i love putting them on in the morning!!! even split a little wood over my lunch break today just to get em a little muddy!

[Hearth.com] why i married her.....

here's the story to brighten this slightly greyish cold day...

so my old boots were rotten stinky and all sorts of beat to hell. i've been complaining for months about how badly i needed new boots but my wife and i are in the middle of buying a new home and she's 7 months pregnant with our second child..so budgets are tight and my old boots got the job done regardless of how much i hate them.

so over the weekend we were driving around and she made a comment about how nasty my boots were and i of course chimed right back about how i agree and wish i could get a new pair. she turned to me and said, and i quote "sweetie, lets get you some new boots so you can ditch those nasty old things"

i was more than happy to agree...and began to think about places to go...she stopped me quickly and said she had it covered because she knew of a place that was supposed to carry great boots and she would take me there. she said that it was her treat with some $$$ she had been saving for a rainy day.

so we pulled into a strip mall i've been past a million times on the way to her parents place and i'm totally suprised as she pulls up in front of a Red Wings Store!!!! i didn't even know there was a Red Wings store there...i looked over and was like "really?" she just laughed and said..."c'mon, how many pairs of shoes have you bought me??" at that point i was, like damn straight woman..let's go get some boots!

so i picked out a pair of boots...and was more than happy to start breaking them in that night while i cooked her dinner :)

what a woman! i'd be half the man i am without her! plus..i'd still be wearing some nasty old boots too! aside from her fancy little high heels...some of her favorite shoes are her hiking boots and her wading boots that she wears fly fishing..and even though she looks great in heels...i love her best in those wading boots standing in a river fishing!

hope you enjoyed,

Riggs

They were a little stiff... But after a few days of walking around in them they're already loosening up. Should break in nicely :)

Thats pretty much all i wear now is redwing boots. Have gone through a few pair and they really stand behind thier product too. Had a pair just recently that was about 5 months old, the tread started to come loose from the boot and the store took them back and gave me a new pair. They have somthing like a 12 months warranty i found out.

that's good to know...i'll remember that in case anything happens. service really is what matters most these days...there are just too many companies that stop taking care of customers as soon as the sale is done.

Riggs, that is a great story and it sounds as if your marriage is a lot like ours. I hope yours lasts longer than our too (we will be 51 years in June).

I too have worn many pair of Red Wing Boots. My current pair that I wear mostly for cutting and splitting are...red wings.

Riggs, Your bride is a true keeper . If , for some odd reason You want to test My assertion , start collecting saws . If that goes well ,start sending them out to get ported . If that goes well.....
Gotta go , Jan just came in with the shipping receipt for my 346 !!!! :)

Your story brings back good memories for me, I bought Red Wing boots in 1992 which is also the year I got married. I still have the same boots and the same wife and love them both. Treat them right and they will both last a long time.

Riggs, be very careful of women who are eager to buy their men things. Check for Zappos boxes over the next few weeks. Also, you do realize that all the spring/summer ladies shoes have been on display for a couple weeks now.

:)

/jk. You certainly have a nice lady.

i love her best in those wading boots standing in a river fishing!
This convinced me you have a good one! Hang on to her....happy wife, happy life!

Glad to hear you like the boots (and the wife too! ;) ) Riggs

I've only ever had 1 pair of boots hang with me for more than a year, most don't last that long, but I'm not buying the likes of Red Wing or Chippewa either. Might have to change that.

these boots just get more and more comfortable as i break them in....still have em on today and love em! definitely my new favorite pair of shoes.

yeah i got real lucky to find her...never imagined i'd marry a girl that was so easy going and laid back. she's let me teach her to fly fish, and now unfortunately she's the better fisher between the two of us..she's much more patient :) she loves to hike and get outside...and she's always up for an adventure. after getting back from a hunt up in the mountains of WY she saw the pictures i had taken and asked if i could take her back there for a few days of camping because it looked so beautiful...that answer was obviously yes!

and she loves Yuengling lager....how can you go wrong there?

You struck gold ;)

yeah that's what i was thinking..i mean how can a guy live in PA and marry a girl that doesn't like Yuengling?? it's a "MUST HAVE" when searching for a wife ;)

...this is her after the wedding ceremony...no bubbly champange..just a Yuengling Lager! (i'll admit it's a light beer...but it's still a Yuengling!)

This guy's wife buys him top-of-the-line boots, drinks his favorite beer, fly fishes in waders, and wants to go camping in the great outdoors. And she's a looker to boot. ;)

Wait a second... aren't you the same guy getting 6 cord log loads delivered to your driveway for $50 a load?

Alright boys, huddle up!

"Murmur, murmur, shhhh, rabble rabble, shhhh, ungh, hooah"

Ok Riggs, we'll let you stay. But you are bringing the beer for the Hearth.com/FHC get-together. ;)

And oh yeah, have you played the lottery lately? ;lol

should i be expecting to find a lynch mob outside my place tonight? :)

ok maybe i can work something out with sharing the wood but let me get my ducks in a row first and see how the deal works out with this guy. i'm thinking i might have to offer up a ton of this wood to the local guys who want to come out and split it up with me.

oh and i'll supply the beer and other liquid refreshments...no worries there :) place and time please?

you got it Defiant..beer is always on deck when i'm at the wheel! just noticed Old Lyme as your hometown...i was born in New London! still have tons of family up in CT..all over the state and spread out through RI and MASS.

You'll need to check in with Scotty Overkill and DexterDay for that one. Last I knew we were looking for a suitable facility to host. How do your neighbors feel about dozens of chainsaws running simultaneously? ;lol
