Bought pocket tree guide, I've been working on it, but if it's already down I'm still not good enough to id it yet.

First thought is poplar.

poplar +1

heavy as all get out when wet and split but when dry very light in the stacks!

The wide growth rings are a dead give away. Poplar , cotton wood fast growing , water loving swamp trees

Another vote for poplar, the good thing is if you split it and get it stacked in the next day or so you can be burning it in this coming winter.
I'd keep it.

Not a true Poplar, but my guess is Yellow (Tulip) Poplar. Not all Tulip have it, but that light gray in the bark fissures is a dead giveaway.
