Looked closer at the bark in the second picture, and saw some smoothness to parts of it, so probably not Hickory. Maybe some sort of Maple but the grain picture would help.

I'm with the Hickory group. Hard Maple or Hickory - either way great firewood so nice score.

Yep, maple or hickory. I would lean toward hard or norway maple, but I don't cut any hickory. Either way good firewood.

Thanks for the help. I got most of it cut up last night and some of it split. My 16 inch craftsman chain saw is not keeping up so if I'm gonna get serious about it I'm gonna need to upgrade.

I started with a poulon saw and never regretted upgrading larger(except that I still want a 70 cc now). Work on good chain sharpening skills; something I wish I would have figured out earlier.
