I was told it's maple but now I'm not sure. I've noticed it has a musty smell and it splits relatively easily If it's straight grained. I live in the seattle, area. The tree has alot of moss on it and oozes a jelley like substance.
The grain of some of that wood looks like ash. Also the bark has the typical x pattern of ash. If it was maple it is most likely Norway Maple. Maple usually smells somewhat sweet, ash to me has a salt like smell.
