I put this in the woodshed forum but hopefully I'll get some answers here. I have 3 of these trees in my yard, any idea what it is? I do not have pictures of the leaves right now.

If that is truly the fruit f the tree than not Tulip Poplar as I posted in this thread on the wood shed forum. I'm going to look up this fruit or try to. I'm not so sure tha isn't a fungus fruiting body.
