Does anyone know the brand of stove this is? In Canada, not having a Certification label deems a wood burning appliance uncertified. This appliance has it's serial number intake but I have not been able to confirm which brand it is, in order to confirm possible clearances. If I can confirm the brand I can make a note of it and leave it up to the insurance company to decide. Thank you

Looks like it may be a Century S244. The firebrick pattern and baffle design may help with verification.

it actually looks identical to my stove. Mine is a 1991 Haughs Campbell Elite S14XE

Which was bought by Century, Correct?

In Canada you'll need a WETT inspection. I would recommend contacting the local inspector and talking to them so that you get the clearances correct. Even if you know what stove it is, without the sticker, they may insist it is still unlisted.

Yes, Haugh was bought by Century, though with some changes. And Century was bought by SBI.

The clearances for the S244 are shorter than for the Haugh S14XE in spite of the family resemblance. It's going to take a more detailed inspection of the stove to determine possible make and model. Unfortunately, I don't have any Haugh manuals to help.

I don't either. The only thing I got with my stove was a sales sheet/ brochure and a receipt. And I can't find either one, though I'm pretty sure they're in my filing cabinet.

I guess we could do some measurement comparisons?

Agree

and yes

Stepped/split top and tapered ash lip are not 244. Otherwise very similar appearance/size.

I am a WETT inspector. I do pass or fail an appliance, I just state that it is compliant or non-compliant. Lack of certification label in not compliant but the serial number is still there. I will simply state that it that fact and leave it up to the insurance company to make their decision. It can also be installed as an uncertified stove with 36" clearances.

Thanks, this definitely looks like it. Can you take a frontal photo of the stove for me and give me the dimensions. I can make note of them in my WETT inspection report along with the existing serial number. It will be up to the insurance company to accept the stove or the client may adapt the installation clearances to 36" for an uncertified stove.

If installed as uncertified, can clearances be reduced to 12" with proper wall shielding per NFPA 211 or Canadian equivalent?

That's seriously conservative to the point of overkill. The side/corner/back reduced clearance is 3x the US requirement. I've temperature tested an NFPA 211 shield with my Jotul at 10". The shield side was at 210ºF, the temp in the air space behind the shield was 85-90ºF.

I hear you. The uncertified clearances are over the top. It is meant to relate to actual uncertified stoves made by home welders but now we include older certified models that just have their decals defaced. I wish Canada and the US could unify their standards because fire is the same temperature on both sides of the border. Hearth pads are the worst example because they seem to be made with the 6" side and back clearances and the 16" front clearance in mind so we are forced to purchase the next size up to reach our 8"/18" requirement.

Sure, I will take it tomorrow when there is more light. The only difference that I can see is that yours has the +/- on the air control lever and mine doesn't. I will also do a few exterior measurements.

Here ya go. The distance from the outside of the front legs is 20 inches. The distance from the outside legs on the side is 14 3/4 inches. The height of the stove from the front is 24 3/4 inches and from the floor to the top of the rear secondary is 26 3/4 inches. The door frame is 16 1/2 inches wide and 12 inches high. If there are any other measurements that might be helpful, let me know. All measurement are +/- due to my extensive (haha) life history.
