I have a wood stove, from a second-hand store, that is a cast iron base and top but sheet metal between. There is a sheet metal (aluminum?) liner inside with an Air gap between.

Any one know about these? I haven't used this stove yet and don't know if it's safe this way. I could replace the liner with metal or fire brick. Any opinions on these options?

My plan for this stove is to be in a workshop out building, not in the house. We use a Harman Mark I (coal) for supplemental heat in the house.

Thanks for your advice and expertise.

Sounds like an older Ashley Wood Stove.
I burned on for a couple of years back in the early 80s with no issues.
Replaced the inner sheet metal once - just to be safe.
