Yes, but when I gave my original plan of drilling holes and installing eye hooks to tie off to the suggestion was made that if I built a wood shed in the future I had roofing material if I didn't hack it up... I liked that suggestion, my wife didn't; but I have a couple of years worth of projects to keep busy with and work on her attitude about a wood shed. 😁

I’m talking a small radius, like a quarter size. When you go to install on woodshed the small radius would be overlapped and not noticeable most likely. Or just be careful around it and don’t worry about it 😂

Gotcha. I was envisioning a 2" radius 😅.

Decided to try rope through holes in the 4" lengths as tight as I could make it. Figured cutting a straight cut down an 8" length would be tough. I took a photo but it apparently didn't save...

Made a bunch more PVC tubes, covered 4 more stacks, then cut up the oak and ash that was left down by the fire pit today.

We are forecast for either 3-6" or 5-8" tonight and 3-6" Thursday into Friday; then there's a night next week supposed to be below zero again and several in the single digits.

Late in the season for below 0!!

Worked on splitting some of the rounds I cut last Saturday. Spent about 2 hours on the splitter.
I can see the end of the log pile now.

I somehow posted this in the wrong thread yesterday...

This is what I decided to try on the PVC pipes to hold the tie down ropes in place.

These are some photos of one of the tangles from the storm in June of '24. Might start to tackle cleaning up the bottom under the big aspen today. Will be very cautious. Probably end up pulling with the truck and aircraft cable to get the aspen down off the snapped pine.

Today I got the oak, white ash and a little black ash split. White ash in the trailer, Red oak and black ash in the back of the UTV. A little under 1/4 cord.

Then I cleared out under that big hung up aspen so I could get the cherry tree out and css'd. Just under 1/3 cord.

Then I hauled in more wood before snowmaggedon hits. The weather folks are sporting some major wood with what's coming 😅. Current forecast is 5-9" tonight and 12-18" Saturday night through Monday morning.

What a day ! Lots of fresh air. I was working in the basement putting lights in. Got the four holes made and the wires in. Figured out the existing wiring. Then cleaned the pellet stove. You are going to have many people borrowing your pallet/metal roof design.

Finally got around to cleaning up and cutting/splitting smaller branches with the help of this device my son and D.I.L. gave me several years ago. One of the greatest things since sliced bread IMO. An older photo, but wood shown similar to what I've been splitting. Some of the thinner ones I won't split, they've been around for over a year.

Been cold again here, upper 30s this morning so the stove has been back to routine winter operation.

Did you get the winds up there that we got down here? How did the stack covers hold up?

We hit gusts of close to 50mph. Haven't seen any sheets of steel flying around. The ones that I can see from the house look OK. When it warms up a little later I have some outside stuff to do and will walk around to inspect.

Had some strong wids come through late last week. Lost a white pine. Just missed a wood shed. Got to clean that sappy mess up.

Looks like none of the sheets shifted at all. We'll have to see how they survive thunderstorms with no snow helping to hold them down 🤣.

Cut up a bunch of oak timbers yesterday along with some lower quality cherry slabs. Brought some of the oak inside to warm up and test MC. I expect it to be good to go as it's been indoors 10 years or so, but if not a summer outside under cover ought to get it there.

Yesterday I split the oak timbers and cherry slabs that were too wide. I brought a couple chunks in Wednesday after cutting them and checked mc this morning...15% 😁. Stack in the garage is about 1/8 cord and there's a little inside. Good stuff!

Mostly 2 3/4" thick. I traded a couple of walnut logs to a guy with a sawmill for the oak timbers. They weren't good enough, too many splits and defects for timbers. I was planning on making some benches for around the fire pit with them, but 10 years later they were still just hanging around and I decided that because people usually use camping chairs and how heavy they'd be to move for mowing that the original intended purpose of firewood was more appropriate. 12" long splits, 30"x7' stack.

My interior doors are done at the finisher, so I will pick them up today and install next week. Did some organizing in the garages again yesterday and re-levelled the basement stairs. Today I might do some wiring in the garage. Still waiting on better weather to tear into the skid loader, but might tear the snowblower apart to replace the auger shaft bearing. It won't blow for crap and I can move the shaft A LOT! Hoping the retainer flanges are still good enough to re-use because they aren't available...

I picked up my 3rd trailer load of Elm from a farmer today. It is so easy - I just sit there and he loads me up. He wants me back so he can get rid of the big stuff no one else will take. I don't mind the big stuff. I'm learning how to cut logs in the trailer. No holes in the floor (yet).

I started cutting. Now I have to figure out how to pull the 2nd biggest log out so I can finish the cut - maybe use the mini pickup (no trees to pull against to yank it out).

My husband and I cut up a skinny oak that had fallen. Worst part was hauling the rounds up hill. Luckily ythey weren't big. My son and I will split the rounds during the week. There's still a whole big mess of fallen trees out there but it is just too dangerous to mess with.

I'm working my way through this trailer load of Elm. I noodled some into halves. Now I'm down to the giant trunk piece in the trailer - I guess I'll start cutting on one side and then move to the other side. Maybe tip it up (somehow?) to finish the cut (the trailer is 6.5' wide). Lastly, cut the rounds into quarters.

Not much going on here except I did plow two more times lately. It's still pretty wet here with snow on top of that so I'll wait to start cutting. I will check the saws out and gear up the four wheeler so I'm ready.

More wood will come in tomorrow.

Scraped away the little bit of grass and topsoil from my parking area/driveway in preparation for crushed concrete delivery this afternoon. Had both tractors out having some fun.
