Developer is putting in a new building and unfortunately a nice stand of trees will have to taken down. Construction starts Monday so I worked last night and will hit it hard today and tomorrow. Some nice straight ash and maple trees mixed in there.
Sorry, still trying to get the hang of how to insert pic links here. Click on the thumbnail to see it better.
I took four nice straight ash and one maple. Two trucks load completely full...poor truck.I am going to flag a couple trees and see if they can be saved when the parking lot is designed. An oak and ash were out by themselves and look pretty nice.Would add some character to the project.
The site has a bunch of tall spruce and a few aspen too, which I'm not going to grab as there are more an enough ash for me.The site is has perfect access and most of the ash are straight and pretty tall.
Poulan Pro I bought Friday already needs a sharpening. Glad I bought a back up chain.
Maybe they can push the logs to the side & let you keep hammering away until they need the space or you got what you want.
Worth asking. Many of the constructions guys hate to see wood go to waste.
Might get some "yellow metal" help moving it to a good location
That's money in the bank! Keep adding to the pile!
I'm at 16 cords ready (in sequence of course) and another 5 and half or so of oak only for '14

I can only admire all the work you guys do to get so far ahead when you need so much wood for heat.
LOL.. Problem is.. I don't know if I have one year, or 4! This is the first winter. I'm still cutting. It won't go bad!
I cut another probably cord and a half today. I've got it all bucked now. I go to "work" tomorrow for a week.... so it'll have to wait to be split. I tend to process in little batches, and clean up the bark and junk after each batch. Keeps it looking neat.
It is a disease... and I have it bad.
JP
I hear you on keeping it neat....picky neighbors and a small yard help me with that.
