ones on Ebay going for less than 25 ? HOW COME WItH A SEARCH ON MY SEARCH ENGINE SAY TO SMALL ENGINES PARTs whose same number or? of carburetor run over $150 plus
part number 390323 its for a Cub 8HP log splitter

I'm not certain I understand your question, but here goes.

It appears that there are very reasonably priced re-pop/copy cat carbs for your splitter. The genuine Briggs carbs are fairly expensive, but the Chinese copies are dirt cheap and look to be popular and readily available.

Buy a copycat carb from a reputable seller and be glad they're available.

I have had pretty good luck with cheap replacement carbs and don't hesitate to buy them. It's tough to size them up since many pictures are just stock photos but I do my best to avoid the cheapest of the cheap.

Keep the old carb. If you're willing to do a carb swap a rebuild isn't much tougher and the rebuild kits are cheap too.

ah thanks you great guys.... Last yr or so a reputable small engine place rebuilt it. Prob it had been rebuilt twice over the years..lt ran fine for a season or so ....he always made sure the gas got turned off..
then recently (last month or so)Hubby tried starting it and it leaked very very bad. He took a weedeater cord and the float was stuck. last month or so.
I found GREAT VIDEO (ZIppoVarga... matter of fact). on you tube ......and Hubby was AMAZED about the" emulsion tube"... carburetor parts list calls it a "nozzle" Learn something new everyday.
Then the other day when he pulled it out (log splitter) for me to split the pile of logs.
Leak so bad it scared me.
He (Hubby) said where the needle valve enters the body of the original Carburetor ( I assume) is STRIPPED. so it cant be rebuilt again...
So I guess it will be Ebay after all cause the small Engine on line stores plus Amazon are well over $150...
I just wonder if the real B&S carbs. are Chinese too hum???
thanks all and Blessings to all

As cheap as they are, and easy to swap out, I'd grab one of those cheapo copies that has good ratings and reviews and never look back. Hardly worth the time or effort to rebuild one when a replacement can be had so easily.

If he isn't already, make sure when he shuts the gas off that he does it when the engine is running, and lets it run until it quits on its own.

And put stabilizer in the fuel well before that if it won't be running for a while. Actually wouldn't hurt to put stabilizer in the fuel right off the bat all the time, in fuel that is used in small engines.

I’m guessing the float needle is dirty. Very easy to clean or replace if it is bad. A rebuild kit should be cheap. That would be my approach.
