Sometimes I fantasize about a heated driveway that clears itself.
I have a big Ariens snowblower, but I don't like to blow wet snow. I would have, but it was a windy day. I'm kicking myself in the butt now.
I got it cleared, but was running out of juice.

We are supposed to get a low of 5F tonight or -15C. Got both stoves going and will probably run the gas heat a bit overnight.
In the long range forecast I can see we're in for another cold zap down to 0 on Tuesday.

Dang, thats' colder than a witch's t!t.
Yeah, thankfully these cold snaps are always short lived. I'd say we hit 0 about 2-3 times a year. Where I grew up, 40 miles northwest of here and 500ft higher elevation, we would routinely see temps below 0 degrees in the winter.
One of those cold nights my buddy had stayed late video gaming and learned the hard way what the "W" in 10W30 stands for. Didn't get his car started until 2pm the next day.

I lived probably about 50-60? miles south west of there in Cornwall, CT. Zero degree days were not too common. The coldest I remember was -15ºF one year. My Volvo wouldn't start. The local garage suggested lighting a fire under the crankcase! I stoked up the wood cookstove instead and waited a couple days for it to pass.

I've heard people talk about lighting a fire under their car but never seen anyone actually do it. That's a good way to enter yourself for the Darwin awards.

It is 9:15 now, and the outside air temp is -21.4 ::C
The reported wind chill (real feel is -34.3 ::C
Coldest night of this fall. Not winter yet.
We also have 12 CM of snow on the ground
and more to come on the weekend

Yes, he was an old timer. That might work with a model T and gravity fed gas, but not with the fuel pump down low on the engine block.
