I think the worst of the storm is really any place that's going to get ice. I lived in Clarksville, TN while I was in the army and you could just about guarantee a little snow but mostly ice storms. Not a fan of ice.

The northeast is looking at 12-24+ inches of snow, but that's a fairly normal event for us. Wishing everyone the best!

It’s cold enough the snow will be powder too. It’ll blow away.

I hope so. Maybe finally good to use @begreen s suggestion of leaf blower snow clearing...
But I think not given that it'll be 20-26 tomorrow and a chance of ice....

I heard today that friends in Ontario Bowmanville are without heat. Their furnace broke. Their house is down to 10C inside. I don't know the full technical details, but they are plugging in electric heaters. It's a very old house, historic property, and I'm told it does not have new wiring/panel :( Very dangerous. They have a wood fireplace, but they say it will suck whatever heat they have right up the chimney.

HVAC on a weekend. Hope they have an insurance plan with a contractor! My youngest is a lic burner teck
Oil, Gas, Wood and pellets. He loves night and weekend calls. Pays him 2 to 3 times reg rates. I hope your friend can find someone
to check his system out.
Dam cold here ( Ottawa Area) right now -19::C wind chill -30::C tonight, light snow, temp -30::C , and wind chill -35 to 40
Pellet stove running at 3/4 and wood furnace keeping the rest of the old house warm. Still will be cold tomorrow and somewhat milder on Monday with some snow, most likely 10 to 15 cm

The kid’s wrestling tournament for tomorrow was cancelled. Im kind of bummed about it. She’s only 3 away from 100 varsity wins. She’ll have to wait until the 31st now, lol.

Oh well, it good get messy if you get some freezing rain. Just get her to do 100 pushups with you on her back

lol. I’m almost double her weight! She took on #1 in NYS again today. She did well. It’s only a matter of time before she knocks her ranking down! She’s currently ranked #4.

I got stuck in a weight class with the number one from 7-10 grade. I hated Chad. I’d bump up just to avoid him.

I did the same. I just wasn’t competitive at my weight. But the kids started getting pudgy at 152. I could deal with that if I could keep them from getting onto me! lol.

Woke up to this.good thing i have the wiener dog under the covers keeping me warm

It’s got to be hard navigating the snow with those little legs!

I just shoveled 12.5" of snow. That was on flat open surfaces. Other places it was 2.5 ft.
Already running out of places to put it...

Powdery, but already compacted so that I couldn't blow it with the leaf blower. After shoveling there was another 1.5-2" of snow again. Blowing that didn't work well either, though it did some. Easy to shovel and light to scoop though so far.

It was 16 f when I started,.feels like 6 according to accu weather.
It's 21 now and I can hear ice/freezing rain coming down now.
Glad there's an inch or two on the ground already again so that the ice doesn't adhere to clean pavement.

Hourly forecast says precipitation will continue to at least 3 pm tomorrow.
Will be 30 overnight high, tomorrow cooling down again during the day.
I hope it stays cold enough but the tickling sound of ice coming down does not bode well.

My wife has to go to the hospital (work) tomorrow early.
We'll see how that goes ...

Yesterday they called for a high of 53. One app said 58. It just broke 40. There a pronounced cold wedge and it’s fighting against some warmer SE flow ahead of the cold front. The cold air is winning down here.

They're calling for 8-16 when I just looked, what's another day of plowing!

Our forecast evolved. First it was 20" of powder. Then is was 12" of powder and 0.3" of ice (and widespread power outages)

The ice/outage forecast got all the grocery stores cleared out, all the shelves bare, suburban moms fighting over the last produce.

We got 7" of powder and about 2-3" of granular ice on top.

No power outages, which is nice, as was the insert ripping all day. :)

Shoveled 3-4" more.
In total 12.5+4+3.5 = 20".

Luckily no ice. I felt some come down later last night but having left some snow on the ground in anticipation for that (and the plowing not being able to keep up anyway), it didn't result in an ice layer on the roads and driveway just a crispy layer on top of the snow.

I see a prediction of 9" next weekend
I can't throw the snow farther over the piles I have now. They're topping out about 6 ft above the driveway surface (on a 2 ft higher grassy area). Everything I put on there now just rolls off back on the driveway. And throwing over 6 ft vertical at and 5-6 ft away is too much for me...

I guess I need a snow blower...

I think we received between 8 - 10, more plowing today and then a short break inside. After the short break I moved more snow off the driveway with the tractor.

Is there another storm coming this weekend?
