Ran out of dry wood about 2 weeks ago, and had to start burning home heating oil. Had my neighbor over for dinner on Saturday night, and he said ... "hey, where's the fire?". After explaining the lack of 'seasoned' wood, he said, "I have a ton of locust rounds from a tree I took down when I put in my pool ... 9 years ago.". With that, we grabbed the beers, fiskars, wheelbarrow, and got to work. The bark was disintegrated for the most part, but apparently, its true ... locust never seems to rot. Split pretty easily, and except for the gigantic pieces (which will go into the stacks for next year), all dry enough to burn. Probably got enough to go 3 weeks.
