...and this is the stuff you see in Craigslist in our area....

Very RARE to find free wood in the sticks.....pretty sad when you gotta go ask for it!!

That's better than most I see here like that.Every few weeks the guy wants free wood already cut split & stacked delivered to his house. At least this guy is willing to work for it ;lol

Not seeing much in the way of wood here, either....or decent stoves. :(

Over the season there have been a couple of people on Pittsburgh's CL expressing their willingness to accept pine if it's dropped off at their house. I guess they figure they're cheaper than a landfill for someone desperate to get rid of an unwanted tree. Pine may be especially hard to get rid of here since hardwoods are so ubiquitous.

Thats our entitlement society at work. I wouldnt be surprised if LIHEAP the heating fuel social program ,gives free firewood to all who ask.

"I need free firewood for my Woodstove,"
Well now, don't we all?
Nothing is free....ever.
Where have you been,im surrounded by people gettin free stuff 24/7. THink we need to sequester them.

I know Thistle................. I see a similiar one over here occasionally wanting free wood all cut and delivered to their house! Get real!

I see a decent CL offer about every 3 months or so. I tried the "asking" routine on CL once and got some replies but none of which I took(power lines, etc.).

I have a friend who has a small sawmill business and he advertises fence boards and slab wood on Craigs list.

He lists his prices in the ad and he says every 3rd or 4th call is someone wanting free boards or slab wood.

And his slab wood price is cheap. F-550 with a 10' x 8' x 3' dump of 90+% oak slabs for $150.

And if you have enough money to own a horse you can buy a fence board.

Were cutting on property not 20 minutes from this guy, found
In the local paper....lots of jaggers, but load afterload
Of locust is worth it.

There have been lots of adds selling access, tops, and such recently.

Us members who have their own woodlot need to be grateful. Before I bought the 8 acre lot next to mine I had to travel to get wood and boy it really cuts down on the productivity. If I had to get all of my wood from scrounging I think I would have to consider buying wood.

Must be nice to have your own woodlot. I had a 10 Acre place years ago ,long before i discovered wood stoves. Now i have less than an acre with precious few trees to harvest.I guess its time to upgrade.

Delivered to Funkstown to boot!

He didn't say he wanted it for free now.

Not like this one:

There was another one too in the DC area about a month ago. Single mom needed firewood to get her through the winter. Almost though about donating some, but then figured who the heck is going to get me through the winter.

I think that with a 70 mile round trip you can still make it worth your time and gas.
