last paragraph sums it up

"So far this year, we have been stuck in colder than normal weather pattern in the eastern United States and warmer than normal weather in the West. We would need a significant pattern shift to change the current set up. El Nino could be that trigger mechanism but it would need to be a strong El Nino in order to affect the world weather pattern. With NOAA's Climate Prediction Center not forecasting a strong El Nino we could wind up with early fall and colder than normal winter for the Northeast and Midwest."

Not much you can do but gear up. I use about 6 or 7 cords a year. I have about 20 cords cut and split, and will continue to gear up. Better to be Pro Active than Re Active!

UGH...

I'm ready for it. Hottest day of the year here in western NC today. Getting some relief come Sunday with lows dropping back into the upper 50s for a couple of nights.

We didnt have the winter out west that you guys out east did but it was long as normal in the Canadian Rockies. We have had a hot summer so far but the last couple of days have been cool and with the dampness and the turning leaves it feels like fall. I dont think its been above 52 f today so I took the opportunity to fire up the stove last night and tonight instead of turning on the furnace (just playing wood stove and enjoying the rec room heat). Either which way the winter ends up Im ready:cool:

2 full years worth of wood on the property, stove runs best when it's cranked up a bit, if we have to have winter, it should be a real one with cold n snow.
(Don't hold me to this in April when I start to complain about the never ending winter)

Good to go this year.

But next year's wood... prolly won't be seasoned to my liking... but we'll deal with it. (everyone gripes about the wimmenfolk but 'round here the issue is the good man and what I call, "grasshopper syndrome"... weather is fine, breeze is stout, and sailing is more appealing that firing up the splitter! (Can't really blame him)

They better not gripe about the wimmenfolk around here :p

Such a gorgeous summer for wood drying. I'm way ahead of the game !!

We had a bit of wet snow at the house yesterday, a low snow line and monsoon like rain at times. Signs of things to come I guess!
