Another tree ID please

I am not sure what I got here, I have some ideas but I'd like to hear from the pros thank you.

Some kind of black or honey locust. Looks yellow on your pics there.

Not like the mulberry bark I am uses to seeing, there is some mulberry in the pile. I will try and get some more pics this afternoon. Was hoping for osage orange but I have never seen it up close

Also it was really dusty to cut and had a strong smell if that helps.

Thanks guys, thats what I was hoping it was. If I can dig a little more out of the pile I'll be happy. I will also let the farmer I am cutting on not to put any more in the pile until I scrounge through it. Thanks again.

I'd have to say black locust,.peel off some bark if it's real slimy where the bark meets the wood it's locust for sure,also has weird smell when green.

I'd go with Hedge too.

Locust will smell like 'olives'. That bark and heartwood color don't look like the black locust in these here parts...

The way to know you have hedge,fresh cut - green, where the bark is , it will have a white sticky sap. Sticks like glue to your hands. Then you have hedge. Every hedge I have cut fresh has this around here and burns HOT. Did I say it burned HOT , it does. Every body around here using it for posts as they wear out 2 holes.

I'd say black locust only because I never see hedge that big around me. All the hedge on my land and around me is quite small compaired to the tree in your picture. I know it gets big but I've never seen it big. If the folks in the "hedge know" say it's hedge, who am I to dispute them.
