Auber AT100 acting strange

I have purchased this unit few months ago and it and it had been working as it should.

Whenever the stove is cold the temp reading will be around 68-70*F. The stove has been cold for some time now and just yesterday I noticed the temp reading is 29*F. Something is not right. I checked if by chance it switched to C, not the case. Nothing changes when I unplug it and plug it back in.

Any thoughts?

Failing thermocouple or thermocouple connection?

I have the AT-100 and it did some strange stuff, too. Best to contact Auber by email, they are good at responding. You may need to go thru the menu system and reset some of the settings. Or as begreen says it may be a thermocouple issue.

Does the reading change if you disconnect the thermocouple?

Yes, it reads error if I disconect it. (EEEEEE)

The only time I had it misread is when the wire was not fully seated in the connector (kid yanked on it).

At one point I got an error message and indeed one of the wires was loose. I made sure they are super tight and still I got the funny reading. I will email the company. See what they say, this thing is three months old.

I emailed the company with a problem.They tried to be helpful but I felt like it was difficult to communicate with them and get my point across. Your problem seems more straight forward.

It's a great meter. It's saved me from an overfire a couple times and the rest of the year it makes a good room thermometer.
