hello again to this great forum. questions on a vermont castings auger motor. our auger is not feeding, we have checked the motor and it humms and the fan on the back of the motor starts to turn but then stops. question is does the humming mean that the motor works? and the auger is jammed? (the stove is totally cleaned all pellets removed and used a air compresser to blow all the debris out of the chute) any help is greatly appreciated. thanks the quints :-)

it humms all the time and the fan only starts to turn. also any suggestions on how to remove the auger it looks like it is in there pretty deep. thanks the quints

Does the owners manual give any info on how to remove the auger motor & auger?

The owners manual is very basic so not so much on changing the auger. but any ideas you have would be great.
thanks the quints

You could tear the motor down once your remove it. Try removing all old lubricant and replacing it with new. Also, pull the rotor out of the stator and make sure there is no contamination between the two.

Lastly, make sure there isn't any build up in the auger tube itself that might be causing the motor to overwork.
