I bought an older farmhouse with baseboard heat. Before my first winter I (not a plumber nor am I) installed radiant floor hydronic heat
and tapped off the baseboard system. I also installed radiant floor in my previous home that had 26' cathedral ceiling. If you have open joists below the great room it is something to consider as it is extremely efficient and comfortable. Height of ceiling does not matter with radiant.
