Anybody in Central Maine do their homework on this yet? I didn't want to reinvent the wheel if somebody already did it. What do they have stocked for pellets and how much?? Thanks

I will be going with Vermont or Ambiance this year. The local dealer carries them; half hour away.

Otherwise I pick them up at Southern Maine Renewable Fuels.

Prices if I had to guess will be 250 or more for a good pellet. My Quest is a little picky so I burn good quality pellets.

I don't shop for pellets at Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Tractor Supply, or Paris Farmers Union. for them a pellet is just a pellet, while the other two places I shop at sell quality pellets; and know their stuff.

Thanks Ricks, I already picked up the majority of my stash with 2.4 tons of Spruce Pointes, but I like to fill out my warmer day roster with more economical pellets.

So far at Lowe's in Augusta -

Greene Team Platinum $274

Checked the Home Despot last night in Augusta, they had Fireside Ultras and MWP for $209.

I've been on the hunt here in Southern Maine (Portland area) and have found the following:

Lowe's - Maine's Choice (around $230ish/ton I think) and Green Team (around $270ish/ton)
Home Depot - Fireside Ultra $219/ton

Last season I burned through 3 tons of Maine's Choice and I wasn't thrilled about the heat production during the really cold stretches (part of this is I think my stove is just too small for my house). So this season I was thinking of either getting 2 tons of something cheap like Maine's Choice again and 1 ton of something a little better in the hopes it will stretch out longer, or just get 4 tons of Maine's Choice or Fireside Ultra's or something.

Both of these are good options at that price. In most circumstances, these can heat your home all season pretty well. As always YMMV
