Hey all,

Proud new owner of a BK princess insert. I replaced an old fisher insert.

They just got done installing and I had a few questions.

1. The bottom of my fireplace has a small lip in the back. This causes the princess to lean back slightly, and rock forward if I put weight on the ash lip. Is that ok?

2. The stainless liner contacts the back of the fireplace slightly ( where the old dampwr was and the brick that juts out for the smoke shelf). Is this an issue?

3. The installers didn't add any insulation around (in between) the stainless liner and the masonry where it goes through the old damper. Should I add any? If so, what kind?

Thanks for the help! Overall I'm satisfied with the crown and cap repair, but a little disappointed with the install. They couldn't fit it flush to the brick because it contacted the damper but I was able to rotate the connection (sticker on it says best flex component model LHRE) and retighten the hose clamp and get it to sit flush.

Here's a before and after of the work, and one of the princess. Anything I should double check on the install?

Is the connector attached to the stove as well?

Is there an insulated block off plate in place?

That creosote I can see there makes me nervous.
