Blaze King Ashford 30 Pricing

I am considering upgrading the wood stove in my yurt to the Ashford 30, but I haven't had much luck finding pricing info online. I know I can call a dealer and find out, but I am trying to get a feel of what people are paying before I do that.

Anyone know?

Your best bet would be to call some dealers in your area. Price can vary quite a bit at this time of year, especially if the dealer is trying to move out inventory. FWIW, east coast prices tend to be a bit higher, but I would expect it to start around $2800-3000. The price is going to depend on what is added to the stove. Adding a fan and enamel is going to raise the price by quite a bit, guessing around $500 or more.

Hmm, that much eh? I was going to get a bare bones unit (off the grid hunting camp after all). My thoughts were to wait until around April since I can't even get into camp until then. I was also hoping to keep the costs under $2,0000. I might have to rethink stoves then. I just want one that will heat this large yurt for 8 hours without reloading at 20 outside.

I am more concerned with a long burn time though. That is the primary reason I want a new stove. The one I have heats the place fine, until it goes out and the yurt cools down. After all, for all intents and purposes, it is just a giant tent.

You would be better off with the 30NC as suggested or perhaps a Woodstock Ideal Steel which will come under $2000 barebones.

BK dealers all work off their price sheet, however a dealer in the PNW has a different pricing sheet than one in NY. Our local pricing is over $3500 for a base Ashford 30 in flat black. The fan kit adds $300, and enamel adds $400.

Thanks! That's a lot more of a price difference than I had thought there would be. I thought BK had started warehousing them in the east to help reduce east coast prices.

Well, thanks for that.. I will check anyway, but I doubt I will get under $2k for anything Blaze King that will heat a 30' yurt (6,833 cubic foot volume). I guess I will have to shop around for a different cat stove. I really want something that will heat it for 8 hours straight.

I would call some local BK dealers. That price doesn't sound right. Ask about other BK models too, the Princess or a Sirocco 30. You may find a better deal on a floor model.

Dunno what a "yurt" is, but 6833 cubic feet would be an exceptionally small house. I have single rooms larger than that. In other words, you might not need a lot of heat, for a space that small.

Which works fine, BUT it only burns 2-3 hrs and then it is out and yurts get cold immediately after that.

The yurt I posted the link to has the same issue. I had suggested a Woodstock stove to them, but they found a great deal on the Morso and went with that instead. It'll heat well for about 5 hrs, then needs a reload.

Out of my price range I think. Keep in mind, it is my hunting camp. I don't get in there all that much in the winter. Mostly spring/summer/fall. Due to its location/elevation and the fact that it is a tent, I need to use a wood stove almost all year round.

Go for the Englander 30, you won't do any better on size, price, and depending on what you burn you should get plenty of burn time out of it.

As Begreen mentioned, the Ideal Steel is in your price range at $1800 with $250 free shipping currently. It is a hybrid stove with a cat.

Otherwise I agree that the NC 30 is the best bang for your buck.

Small places are hard to heat with wood. Especially remote places with no power. I bet a vented propane stove would do very well there.

I have tons of firewood just from clearing the land. I would rather use that.

I could be wrong but I think with today's catalytic stoves you can have better success at heating small areas than you used to with non epa or noncat epa stoves.

Of course that might go out the window in this case due to the structure pretty much being a tent.

Small areas are one thing, but a yurt is like a bedroom. It can be done of course, but is it wise?

To be clear, the current wood stove works great. The only issue is I have to reload it too often. I hate having to get up in the middle of the night, especially during hunting season, to reload.

I have been reading up on the Woodstock and it looks interesting.

The Woodstocks stoves are exceptionally heavy! Will the floor hold up that 600-700 pounds ok? I wouldn't think it would be a great idea.
