Wowsa, it does not get much closer than that, those people should play the Italian Lotto! I assume that the one that came down obviously many years ago was not enough to scare of these people? What would cause such large boulders to just let loose- seismic activity or rain induced slide?

I used to work in Barre VT near Graniteville which is a village located adjacent to the Rock of Ages Granite Quarry. Some of the houses built over the years are directly at the base of 100 plus foot high piles of granite boulders left over from quarrying. Just driving past them gave me the "willies".

I see they have tried putting a protective earth berm in front of the high tension tower. May need to do that upfield for the house protection too.

Unfortunately, wine production will be somewhat negatively affected by recent boulder rolling events.
Looks like the garage was sheared off fairly cleanly. Where's the duct tape?

I think they have gone from wine production into a whinery. I know I would be. Would you want to sleep there, especially with that huge rotten chunk left still up top on the mountain?

Relocation seems a viable alternative to living under that accident waiting to happen.

Sad thing is that family probably has lived there for generations. I would be tempted to dynamite the remaining chunk above after berming the upper field and then hope for the best. That however could be an expensive endeavor.
