Won't make a difference. You can use them for 25 years so long as they don't have chunks missing.

Are you having problems getting the stove up to temp?

Just wondering, is this being ask as a "maintenance" question or are you trying to over come a heat issue? (as Pen asked).
 
If you have standard bricks and go with Insulating Fire Brick then the IFB will help heat the fire box better and help maintain the heat at lower primary input air settings.

Quadra Fire Stoves use them and they get good reviews for heating up quickly.
 
Thought for sure this was another brick fuel thread..lol.
 
on year 6 for my bricks. When the one side of them started getting crappy, I flipped them over.
