[Hearth.com] Brought out the big guns.
kend as well as a huge snowstorm,I hope I can stay warm with these 10 year old locust rounds, and my BK Parlor. We'll see.

Yup, I have done similar size rounds. Great for a long burn , temps should be steady so you all will be nice a warm.

Time to breakout the black locust here in Connecticut too.

Anything is possible ,however not looking for a 24 hour burn at all,i'll settle for half that with usable heat, and that's easily achievable with my stove and wood quality. Not a marathon wood burner.:)

I am not a marathon wood burner either...dont even try..I have 3 cord of 4 year old White Oak splits in the 6-8 inch range I have been holding onto for this weather we got coming in...let her snow!

I was picking through my stacks looking for some big knotty pieces too.. I found some big old cherry and maple and locust for my overnight burns coming up. Fortunately it's going to warm back up real quick. 3 for a high Monday with a low of -8, then back to a high of 36 by Wednesday.

I have 2 below zero now static and I still can’t have a constant fire. I warm it up to 69 or so then let it go down to 63 then back up again with the next fire. But this house isn’t as big as the one I moved from last summer. That place had a 20 foot cathedral ceiling and a lofted second floor that I could burn more constant in when it was below zero out.

We did here over a foot ,wind chills now at about zero, tonight -25 wind chills ,i hope i don't have to g;)et up every three hours stoking the BK.

So far the snow has dissipated substantially, but I guess the brutal cold is still on the way for tomorrow. Glad I brought in so much wood.

Its around 15 in southeastern Ohio. 40 and nothing but rain yesterday. Wife happened to up last night and said within 5 minutes she heard rain on the roof, then ice and then instant white out. I woke up to 4-5 inches with 1/4 ice under it. We are looking at -2 tonight with -15 wind chill tonight. Honestly, I'm very happy for it. I'm tired of rain and warm weather as long as we have had it and I wanted some winter.

I bet you will sleep through the night with no worries! We will not be quite as cold as your neck of the woods as they are predicting -4 with -20 wind chill...my investment in new doors and windows ,insulation and siding is really paying off already....I am really feeling it! :) The Princess is having no trouble keeping up...

We had teens yesterday & single digit highs today. Expecting 6" snow on Tuesday and then its supposed to drop again, by the end of the week highs are supposed to just break 0 F. Finally, some winter cold. I've been setting some nice dry 7 year old oak aside just in anticipation of some real winter weather. I can always keep the house warm with the assortment of hardwood I have in the basement, but it is a treat to feed the Caddy with that oak when the temps drop!
