Burn or not?

I am having my mahagony deck surface torn up and new wood put down. The old wood was treated with penofin once in 2013 on just one side. I cut through a piece and the original grain is only stained for 1/64". And I'm not actually sure if this isn't dark from weathering or from old stain.

I have already repurposed some for the outdoor shower deck. But some is cupped, warped, cracked, etc.

removed if they are 2x4 2x6 2x8 ask a wood worker
in your area if he would like it . After it has been over
a jointer and through a planer He may get some nice

If you were close to me and the sizes were as indicated
I would take it mite even conceder paying a little .
mahogany is hard to find and very expensive around here

I wouldnt. General rule: if you arent 100 % sure, dont burn it in the stove.

Aside from some volatiles, much of the stain used is in the wood. I wouldn't burn it. Go with johneh's idea and get a wood worker to take it, maybe in exchange for a small pile of oak. Everyone will win!

It's all 1/4 , no nails. 6-12' lengths.

Yeah, mahogany is great for woodworking projects. My old condo I owned a decade ago was sold to me with rough cut mahogany for shelves in the outdoor storage area. Before I sold it I swapped it all out for pine one-bys. I love that stuff. Beautiful color after several applications of Watco Danish oil.

Burn it! Penofin is just rosewood oil with some pigment. It is completely dried out by now. It is BTU's!

Huh, I didn't think of that. I'm thinking of some uses for it, but I will definitely have scraps .

Nice video. Free advertising for folks near your location. I'm guessing the OP has not burned it yet because it's so warm and not heating season yet.

I also work in tree service.

To the OP..... is your stove a cat stove? I for sure probably wouldn't burn it in a cat stove. If a regular epa stove or an old smoke dragon I guess that depends on if the stain is flammable.

I myself would not burn it. One because I have several years worth of seasoned oak and two because I just wouldn't .
