Is this the Avalon Rainier, or could it be the Pendleton? I don't think it's the Olympic. Can all these Avalon models be taken off the legs and used as inserts?

Hey Mellow! Yeah usually I float back in when the weather gets colder.
That Avalon is on CL for quite cheap, would like to recommend it to a friend who is casually looking for an insert, but if it's a Pendleton it is probably too small for them. It's very hard to tell the different sized units apart!
These folks likely want something that's prettier and more ready to go, but that's probably a great stove! An interior shot shows a couple cracked firebricks, but all in all, a good deal.
Should be a decent heater if the innards are still in good shape. Avalon was one of the first to sell EPA stoves.
Thanks Be Green, do you have a feel for which model this might be? Tough to tell. The blower extends under the whole ash lip which makes me think rainier or pendleton, but heck if I know. I'm pretty sure it will go fast before questions about measurements etc could be answered - they are asking $250, new would have to add another zero...
Nope, the 996 had the blower underneath. Not sure what the earlier late 80 models were. This was Craig's specialty.

Thanks, BeGreen! In that case, I have a feeling this won't be new enough for the folks I was thinking of. I guess Craig isn't proprieter here anymore, does he still spend a lot of time here?
If they are looking for something more high end there is a Jotul 550 posted on CL in Falling Waters, WV, a trip up 81 might be in order.

Guessing something medium to large so 2 cu foot and up. It's an interior chimney in a den at one end of a quite large house, I think anything less than a medium size just wont do anything more than that one room but if it's very large it will cook them out of there, so figure something medium might work for them. They may indeed go for something pretty and flush like the Jotul Mellow shows, but they prob have room for a hearth stove, and I think an insert with enough of a cook top for power outages is always a bonus, but we'll see when they decide on it. Think sticker shock and the idea of a liner in a tall 2 story is probably going to put them off it for another season but this guy has the best looking hand split wood stack around, I know if he got a woodstove he'd LOVE it.
New in the 2 cu ft range they can look at the Englander 13NC, Drolet 1800i, Century CW2900 and the True North TN20 inserts. All are in the $1K neighborhood.

When I was looking a few years back the only insert Englander sold was pretty little. I guess if they went with a hearth stove it would work though. Thanks for the suggestions!
It's 1.8 cu ft. The PE and Century are slightly larger. The Escape 1800i is listed at 2.4 cu ft.
