When the cartridge heater element fails does it fail all at once or does it die slowly? I've had the first few burns of the season and it seems that the fire is starting a lot slower that it was last winter.
its been my experience that they usually fail all at once like an old edison light bulb. however i suppose if the resistance coil in the igniter breaks down the resistance value could decrease causing the igniter to not heat to the standard temperature.
